Citizen’s Academy

The Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Lincoln Parish District Attorney’s Office are offering a free Citizens’ Academy to members of the community with an interest in the criminal justice system and law enforcement.   From the prosecution of Homicides to financial crimes, the Citizens’ Academy offers a behind-the-scenes look that demystifies the workings of the criminal justice system.

The topics covered in this 4 week program: Narcotic investigations, Economic Crimes, Crimes against People and Property, Juvenile Crimes and Programs, and Issues with the Judges Office and District Attorney’s Office.     Participants will have the unique opportunity to hear directly from leaders in District Attorney’s Office and Law Enforcement agencies of Lincoln Parish.    Highlights include a mock Crime Scene with the participation of the La. Tech Drama Department followed up by a mock trial at the Lincoln Parish Court House.

The academy will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning March 28th, 2017 and ending April 18th, 2017.   Each night the academy will last approximately two hours, from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M., with a light dinner provided.   The classes will be held at the Lincoln Parish Safety Complex, located at 161 Road Camp Road, Ruston, Louisiana, and two of the classes will be held at the Lincoln Parish Court House, located at 100 East Texas Street, Ruston, Louisiana.
